Speaking of thankful…
Last week I visited Sam in Baltimore. What a mix of emotions as I realized my son is all grown up. Truly on his own. No remaining apron strings.
His journey to becoming a Physician’s Assistant took focused hard work and commitment. He makes a difference in people’s lives each and every day.
During our visit, we also celebrated Veteran’s Day. And it hit me.
Sam would not be the young man he is today without the many Veterans who influenced his life and character.
All through junior and senior high school, Sam ran a small yard/lawn care business. Most of his clients were Veterans. They taught him life lessons for success. And coached him in integrity, trustworthiness, and commitment.
Lessons such as:
- A job’s not done until it’s done right.
- Be a man of your word.
- Show up on time - with the right tools and the right attitude.
- There is no, “I can’t.”
- You become what you repeatedly do.
So, this Thanksgiving season I want to say, “Thank You!” I’m deeply grateful for every Veteran in our life. For their commitment to shaping good values in my son. For expecting the best from him and for him.
